James 3:13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.
If we have the wisdom and understanding that are from Jesus, we can resolve any problems which occur in our lives with a spiritual ability to discern. If we understand God’s words and are inspired by the,, we are going to receive the blessings of spiritual ability to discern to acquire wisdom and understanding. If wisdom is the knowledge of all things, understanding is having upright actions in every situation. If we have such wisdom and understanding, we are able to discern the spirit of the times and stand with confidence.
Therefore, the Bible gives many instructions on wisdom and understanding. For example, Apostle Paul, we do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. No, we speak of God’s secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that GOD destined for our glory before time began (1Cor 2:6, 7). In wisdom is for a life of flesh, the wisdom that belongs to the revelation of GOD is a spiritual wisdom that leads to receiving salvation. It is the wisdom to guide us to life for the glory of GOD. Especially, James said that true wisdom comes from heaven, and it is appeared as many fruits of life (James 3:13). James said of who the true wise person is by giving nine characteristics of the wisdom which can be received from heaven (James 3:17,18). That is pure, peace loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.
As the Bible says, if we acquire the wisdom and understanding given by God, not only we receive God’s amazing grace and blessing, but also we are to preach the gospel to people in this world. Even through people claimed to have received God’s grace, they do not have the wisdom and understanding from God if they quarrel, fight, dispute and divide into many parties. And there are many incidents in which a lot of hypocrisy and unrighteous actions take place. Through reading the Scripture, we ought to be the people of God who would work with full of wisdom and understanding that come from heaven.
